Bad accident on Glossop road

Recommended Posts

There's been a bad accident at the junction of Glossop Road and Upper Hanover street - outside the Harley. There's a car on it's roof, plenty of police, two fire engines and an ambulance. Best to avoid the area for now - traffic flow very restricted.

Hope no-one's hurt. The ambulance turned up with blue lights, but hasn't dashed off so that's perhaps a good sign

We were walking up West St when it happened - we heard a crash and the next thing we saw was the car on it's roof - it hadn't spun round , just flipped over. It had obviously hit another car, which didn't look too badly damaged.

It's a dangerous junction - too many people do illegal right turns there.

Yeah, it's seems to have been getting worse recently from both sides of the roads. There's been many occasions when we've been heading up towards Broomhill and somebody has turned right coming down from the University, that's the most dangerous because they'll often pull out straight in front of you, then there's those that turn right coming out of West St/Glossop Road when there's a cut in front of HSBC that allows people to turn right.

It's a disaster area, and something needs changing or enforcing! We got back into Sheffield at 11.20 last night, and it was a bit of a mess!

saw horrendous accident there in late 1992. Car went through a red light, left the road and bounced off one of those information boards. The people had to be cut out by the fire brigade. Never found out if there were any fatalities but wouldn't be suprised.
