plekhanov
Like the title says I'm currently building a website and want to register a url for it, does anybody know a good company to do this through? Also I'll be needing a host, anybody know a good value deal for a site that most likely won't use much bandwidth?
JoeP
For domain registartion I'd take a look at 123-reg.co.uk. I use them extensively, and they have a good control panel and there are no 'hidden' costs (except for those inflicted by people like ICANN and such) if you need to transfer the domain, etc.
plekhanov
For some reason I can't access 123-reg.co.uk someone on another site recommended 1and1.co.uk (which I can access) to me, have you any experience with them?
DaBouncer
Why can't you access http://www.123-reg.co.uk
plekhanov
I've no idea, I assumed the site was just temporarily down, if you can access it right now I don't know why I can't. I'm not running any pop up, ip blockers or anything of that sort which would stop me, the only thing I can think of is that my router may be blocking it for some reason. I'll reset that and see if it makes any difference.
JoeP
Works OK for me - I've not used 1and1.co.uk but the main thing to watch out for is how easy it is to make changes to your settings (mail forwarding, etc.) and whether they have any additional transfer costs if you want to move the domain. I also rarely register the domain with the hosting company - again, keeps things flexible.
plekhanov
Well I reset my router and now I can access 123-reg I've no idea why but it occasionally seems to take a dislike to certain urls.

sccsux
For domain registartion I'd take a look at 123-reg.co.uk. Another one for 123reg:thumbsup:. 1and1 are a little more expensive than 123, and I've also heard a few "bad" things (especially when transfering away - to the extent where nominet have had to become involved to get the domain released).
