dosxuk
Yes it will install & run. Will it be usable is a totally different question... I have used several WinXP pro machines with 4GB HDD / 256MB Ram / 266MHz Processors and while they do work, they seem to take forever to do the most simple of tasks. I use XP Pro on an IBM Thinkpad 600 333Mhz 128 Ram and works fine without any problems at all,I also have it instlalled on a GoBook IX250 with 128meg ram but has a 700mhz processor. sallonoroff
128 - will work but probably be unbearably slow. 256 - works well and acceptable for most tasks
XvanityX
128 - will work but probably be unbearably slow. 256 - works well and acceptable for most tasks ...unless you're trying to do more than one thing at a time..
alkatraz
Once again, if I may just point out that the size of your RAM is not everything, if even anything. It's the quality of the RAM along with your motherboard and processor combination that really matters, with the exception of the fact that for MOST people who bought their POS computers from Tiny or PC World, the system performance bottleneck is actually the read and write speed of the hard drive. If you REALLY want to argue size of RAM - for medium quality everything else, 128MB is acceptable for most tasks although may be slow at times. 256MB is perfectly suitable to run Windows XP on, even gaming (but not modern gaming *cough*BF2*cough*DOOM3*cough) - so long as you have a good graphics card. Install it.. it'll be fine. Just don't expect Windows Vista to install on it and work well.
