the_mandarin
I have a few days off work coming up and, among other things, was planning to watch a movie. Does anyone have any recommendations from any of the newly released movies?
Beakerzoid
Depends what your tastes are. Talladega Nights is a wickedly funny Will Ferrell film in the same vein as Anchorman. Little Miss Sunshine is a sorely overlooked black comedy about a family who rally together when the daughter enters a beauty pageant. For horror, Severance is not only bloody, but also very comical at times. If you like remakes of Japanese films, then Pulse is out. The Queen has been getting pretty decent reviews. Fancy some mindless action with scantily clad women? DOA is the film for you. The Night Listener is a thriller starring Robin Williams as a DJ who becomes obsessed with finding out the truth about a fan. The Black Dahlia looks promising. Scarlett Johannson stars, and it was written by the same guy who wrote LA Confidential. Quite a big mix offering something for every taste at the moment. KingMaker
I have a few days off work coming up and, among other things, was planning to watch a movie. Does anyone have any recommendations from any of the newly released movies? mandarin that's a tough question as everyone has different tastes! I haven't seen any cinema films for a couple of months now so can't recommend any really new films but if your looking at DVDs I can thoroughly recommend Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a very cool black comedy/thriller (Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jnr and the very sexy Michelle Monaghan off Mission Impossible 3) and Syriana (George Clooney, Matt Damon) an excellent, intelligent political thriller. Both films I actually watched at the cinema but are now available as DVD rentals. Don't bother with The Constant Gardener though....... I thought it was a real sleeper! Ditz
Well I'll tell you that Little Miss Sunshine and the Queen are both excellent movies that are worth watching. Talladega nights is ok although I feel it could have been better.

the_mandarin
Thanks for your replies! I have seen "Dead Man's Shoes" already. "The Black Dahlia" was not available for rent, so I got this movie called "Running Scared" and believe me - it was a real surprise. Do check it out if you get a chance.
