mtp04gm
Hi All, I want to share a folder on network but password protect it. Is there any way of doing this? Do I have to create individual users on the computer which has this folder and separately give them access to it. The idea is to have just one password, anyone can see the folder on the network but only ppl with the password can get in and access files. Can that be done?? Thanks

Bourne
You can make the folder private, which changes the permissions. Who are you trying to keep it private from? This this won't stop anyone with a fair bit of IT knowledge. There's a feature called EFS in XP Pro that will do a better job, and also the Microsoft My Private Folder app which can still be picked up online (although MS pulled it from their web site) Be careful if using these last two, if you screw up you'll not be able to access your data!
