Flamingoland v Lightwater valley

Recommended Posts

Flamingo land is fantastic & got a bit of everything unlike other more expensive places. It isn't just a theme park, they have a zoo area & hourly shows. I have never been to Light Water Vally but have been to American Adventure & Alton Towers & Flamingo Land comes out tops. They may not have got the bestest, fastest rides but they've got a bit of everything. Ifits kids yoyu're thinking about they don't want to queue for hours, they want to see & experience everything.

I've always thought Flamingoland was a two-bob outfit and nothing I see or hear convinces me otherwise; a few weeks ago a friend got stuck on what I think is their new, Nemesis-type ride cos the safety restraint didn't open at the end of the ride and then her stepgrandson and his friends got stuck in their car at the top of the log-flume and had to be pushed over by staff when they eventually realised there was a problem.

We always favoured Lightwater Valley when we were kids growing up and went quite a few times. Apart from the Pleasure Beach I haven't been near any theme park for at least 20 years.

I've been to both quite recently;

Flamingoland - I'd not been here for many years and last time I went it was quite frankly, not very good. However... visiting it again since they've poured a lot of money into it and it is very very good. The rides they have are very impressive, and the staff are generally quite friendly. Their two big rollercoasters - Velocity & Kumali are pretty good too, well on par with rides at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park.

Lightwater Valley - I'd never been in the past, so couldn't judge it on former glory (or lack of it) and had an absolutely terrible day. The only ride which is any good is the Rat Ride, or whatever they call it this week. The food was utterly crap and massively overpriced (and this is coming from someone go goes to Alton Towers a fair bit!). As for "The Ultimate" it was awful. It is so uncomfortable and rough that I bruised both knees to the point of bleeding when I went on it.

However, to be honest you'd be better off going to Alton Towers at the moment, as between now and 30th Sept the tickets are only £14.50 if you book online.
