Zinger549
http://www.emusic.com/europeanlaunch50 I thought I would let you know about an excellent site I stumbled across last night called emusic (http://www.emusic.com) - it seems to be a new arrival in the UK although it's been going in the US for some time. It's basically like iTunes except cheaper and has more obscure stuff than they do and not so much mainstream stuff. If you sign up for a free trial, you get 50 free MP3 tracks, yes that's MP3s, as in works with every MP3 player, iPod and car stereo in the land, plus it's not protected so you can do what you want with it! If you only listen to what's in the top 40 you're probably not going to find much you'd want to download but I certainly filled my boots and was able to get three complete albums for free plus a few odd tracks. There's an absolute ton of different musical styles including Indie (Belle and Sebastian's new one is there, as well as Snow Patrol, Jose Gonzalez... loads!), Prog (Rick Wakeman, Frost, Echolyn, Porcupine Tree) and a fair number of golden oldies if you're after some odd tracks. You need a credit card to sign up but once you've had your 50 free tracks you can cancel immediately and keep the MP3s. Or alternatively, you can stay subscribed and pay a monthly fee to download a certain number of tracks (working out from about 20p per track depending on your monthly tariff.) http://www.emusic.com/europeanlaunch50 To cancel once you have reached your download limit go to My Account at the top of the page, click on something like "Manage my Account" and it will ask you if you want to cancel (they make it so obvious you are left thinking, why didn't they hide it away a little bit more like most of these deals so they can encourage people to stay more?). You will be pleaded with to stay but just confirm, and your CC will not be charged and your account will be removed. Your downloaded tunes will be kept, mine were automatically downloaded to my desktop.
