Yellowrose
I am with freeserve (now orange) and have broadband. I am moving shortly and thought I would just phone them, but my friend said when he moved he didnt have internet for about 6 weeks as thats how long it took to change over ??? At first they told him it would be two weeks but it turned into 6 somehow. Has anyone else had this problem, because if they have I will cancel my contract and just start another. pikey
Hi Yellow rose, like you I'm with wanadoo(orange). When we moved house in Jan we informed them of our comming move & they told us to contact them again 2 days AFTER we had moved house & the new phone number was in place for more than 36hrs. When we did so we also were told that it may take up to 6 weeks to get reconected back up to broadband but in the mean time we could use the old dial up pay as you go system (just get a disk from argos at drakehouse). I told them that I was not going to pay for any broadband service whilst they re-conected me back up & they promissed that my payments would be Suspended until the broadband was re-conected . In the end the reconection took only 6 working days to do which wasnt too bad (considering that I was realy too busy unpacking to be on the net) . Hope this helps abit good luck on the move Pikey
fastforward
Mine took 6 weeks too. My ISP said it would be two but, apparently, ALL ISP's are reliant on BT and guess what - non-BT customers are not their priority.....
vinceallen
The transfer time is reliant upon BT. In my experiance it should be around 2 - 4 weeks.
karen1573
The best thing to do is to cancel your existing account and start a new one, you can also use this as an opportunity to get a better deal. I moved about 3 weeks ago and ended up staying with Pipex as the best value for my needs, it only took 10 days to get reconnected. However when I moved previously I tried to do the whole transfer thing and it went badly wrong, we were 6 weeks without internet which is not good when you're working from home. We think that problem was because the previous tenants had skipped out on their BT bill and BT would not enable a new ADSL line without having the bill cleared... took us some time to explain we were new tenants.
