Le_Rosbif
After the Man U - Celtic game in midweek, I've changed my mind about the Old Firm in the Premiership debate. What a marvellous atmosphere, the Scottish representation would conjour fantastic atmospheres nationwide and an increase in attendances. Forget your Watfords, Readings, Wigans - these clubs are an embarrassment to the Premiership with their 15-20k crowds. I call for a direct swop between the afore mentioned premiership clubs and the Old Firm + Hearts or Gretna (Gretna, top 6 Premiership club in two years time). Discuss! Now let me think of the teams that would probably finish above them. In no particular order Chelsea. Man u. Liverpool. Arsenal. Tottenham. Newcastle. And possibly Aston Villa .Everton.West Ham. How many of the players of Celtic or Rangers would get into any of these Premiership teams. They bring large numbers of supporters to England when they occasionally play down here but could they afford it on a regular basis.

Oh it must be at least two weeks since the last time you came up with this thread ....... they'll not give up guaranteed European competition. End. I suspect there's enough Celtic fans spread throughtout the UK to fill the away supporters sections of most premiership grounds fairly easily without thousands of fans having to travel all the way from Glasgow. donuticus
If Scottish teams played in the pPreemier League they would be under the jurisdiction of the English FA. If this were to happen FIFA have said that they would look to scrap the individual registrations of the home nations. This in turn could mean that we have a British team which Scotland and Wales dont want simply beacause the squad barring Giggs, Bellamy and maybe Barry Ferguson would be enitrely English. It would also affect the UEFA slots for European competitions.

JFKvsNixon
Then how come Cardif are currently 2nd in the Championship? I think I remember reading somewhere that Cardif cannot qualify for Europe, only the Welsh clubs playing in the Welsh leagues and the English clubs playing in the English leagues can. Whoops just thought, there are probably enough Scots in the Labour govement to do just that.
