davyboy
I have 2 HDs in my pc. One has all my programs on it the other is only used as a data storage back up. The question is: are both discs spinning all the time or only when being written to?
garydickson
I'm pretty sure they're spinning all the time (unless you specify for them not to - see your Power settings, from the Screen Saver options window) to make reading/writing faster (otherwise they would have to be spun up each time). torin8
As soon as the pc is fired up the drives will spin up to speed. They will only turn off if your pc's power saving mode is activated for the HDDs or when the power is turned off.
