lalaland
Does anyone know anywhere decent in Sheffield to get an LPG converstion done on a car? I would like to have my car converted to take both petrol and LPG. Anyone had this done? Any advice or experience? And can anyone give me an idea of cost or recommend somewhere to have it done? Thanks
AlquarUK
I can find out for you if like, think he is in wakefield, but I though they were supposed to be phasing LPG out for an alcohol substitue, unfortunately one we canb't drink! lalaland
Thanks I'd appreciate that. I didn't know it was being phased out though? That seems a shame, it's certainly a lot cheaper than petrol.
Cyclone
try google. http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-39,GGLD:en&q=lpg+sheffield this returns 78 thousand hits, the first being a list of three companies in sheffield that advertise doing lpg conversions. I've not heard anything about lpg being replaced.
lalaland
Thanks, it's certainly something I am keen on looking in to as long as there aren't any down sides to it. I also like this bit Later this year anyone owning cars using certain types of fuel, including electricity and liquid petroleum gas, or LPG, will be able to apply for a permit costing one penny which provides access to all municipal car parks in the city centre. The permit will allow them to use any of the car parks without charge, up to the permitted maximum stay. A pilot scheme involving around 60 motorists is already operating and is regarded as a huge success by transport planners. which would mean further savings for me
lalaland
Just got a quote of £1,800!!! I was expecting something more like £800-1,000 but £1,800 is too much.
Cyclone
there are a few sites which let you calculate when you'll have made it back. If I done it when I was doing high mileage it would have paid for itself in 1 year, but now it would take about 4 and so isn't worth it, as i doubt i'll ever keep a car that long. You can get a grant from the government towards some conversions I think, but it depends on the age of the vehicle.
lalaland
I am sure I saw somewhere doing it for £800, but never mind. I'll keep looking. I didn't think I'd qualify for any grants, but it's worth a look I suppose.
hagueok
what car do you have ? mines a old maestro, and i fitted my own system, got it from manchester, full kit with everything you need , cost was £315 , bit dearer for efi cars ,took 4 half days to fit (fitted it after work). i have yet to find a downside £26 to fill it up, just under 500 miles to a tank full.
