Disabled on 4 wheels on pavements

Just saw the thread about cyclists on the Moor and it reminded me about 4 incidents lately involving those disabled vehicles.

Do any of them have any road/pavement sense?

Recently I was travelling down Ecclesall Road, just above Gilders, there was one of these vehicles trying to turn right in to Bannerdale Road, cars were weaving in and out of each other trying to avoid it. Why don't they use the crossings?

The next incident was by Staples.

Walking in front of the building towards town I turned left to head for bottom of the Moor only to be nearly run down by one of these travelling quite fast, if it had been a bike I'd have given them a mouthful...

On another occasion I was coming out of the road between The Waggon and Horses and the row of shops on Heeley Green, it is a blind junction as I pulled up an OAP on one of these crossed straight in front of me without looking or stopping...IDIOT

This also happened again at the bottom of my road and a while back I saw one of these vehicles wrapped around a lamp post!

What is the law on these bl00dy things?

Is anyone allowed to 'drive' one, irrespective of if they have a driven a car or any motor vehicle previously.

Is it just me?....Do they follow me!

I am glad someone else gets narked by these.

I reckon they have their car licence taken away cos they're not safe behind the wheel of a motor car, get one of these and wayhey! no licence, no tax, no insurance...nowt to pay

they're allowed to go on the path or the road....cos they fought in the war & gave you your freedom you know...

I cannot wait till I'm old, I'm gonna have a whale of a time knocking ppl outta the way swearing and waving me stick at the youth of the day, refusing to thank ppl who hold a door open fo me or give me their seat on the bus...I shall say I demand your respect cos I'm an annoying old fart.

LOL

And when you've stormed beaches at Normandy, been machine gunned from fighter planes, starved half to death in POW camps, then come home & rebuilt a broken nation you'll deserve my respect -

Have a great day :):D:P

There was the infamous footage of the old dear on the motorway slip road.

Then there was the case of the pensioner who spent his days in the pub and then drove one of the things home whilst bladdered. The streets were filled with the bodies of the folks he ran into.

The police took his buggy off him as he was a menace and he started moaning about being left stranded as a result!:loopy:

I notice there are always 2 or 3 parked outside The Waggon and Horses at Heeley...perhaps the 'Old Bill' should wait outside with some breathalysers!

I once saw an old couple driving those things up Division Street, side by side so that they took up the entire pavement.

They were heading towards the forum and woe betide anyone who was in front of them or going the opposite way as they seemed to be heedless of who they ran into/over.

People were being forced into the road all the time by them.

At one point the old woman had to slow down and swerve to avoid a lamp-post and she was so eager to get back beside the bloke that she ended up getting the plastic rim on his cart (above the back wheel) trapped under her own wheels and ripping it clean off.

It flew off and missed hitting another pedestrian by an inch.

Afterwards they just careered off on their merry way.:loopy:
