pippadoll
Is this our last weekend before the masses invade pub land in Sheffield? Any tips for escaping the masses, if you go to town at the weekend? Not that I mind the students, I was one once, but the bars get too crowded and it takes ages to get served. Is Ivory on thier route?
donuticus
The University of Sheffields freshers week starts on Monday so the students are moving as we speak. SHU has its freshers week the following week.

littleblue
I'd personally like to see it a bit quiter Only so many nights you can cope with being woken up every 10 mins by people screaming and generally making a nuisance of themselves. But hey ho I suppose its all part of living in the city centre. Just wish people would be just that little more aware of their surroundings. morph
there are a couple little gems just off west street where student don't go not banging pubs, but definitely easy to get served - The Grapes Trippet Lane (behind the DSS), (live)music, pool and good atmosphere - The Red Deer (just off Mappin Street), quiter, but sometimes busy - seems to be full of Uni Professor types, decent atmosphere - The Bath Hotel (down the side street by the Swim Inn), good atmosphere, sometime live music, a real ale pub with a damn good selection of drinks
peacenlove
i've been in sheffield both when there have been no students around and when there has, and the city is a lot more buzzing and alive and the nightlife is better when students are around. also it seems like students make up half the population of sheffield! whats that about!? do sheffieldians completely avoid the city centre or is there just a lot less of them than i thought?!
