Mags
Can anyone tell me what this message means,it comes up regularly"Norton Antivirus 2005 does not support the repair feature. Please uninstall and reinstall" I pay for norton but cannot get it to update automatically and on live update parts won't update. I am not very clever with technical jargon so could you keep it simple please Mags
Ann*
When you uninstall it, don't reinstall it, but install one from the list of freebies in the SF FAQ. Do a search on "Norton" in SF search, and you'll see my reason for that response.

Mags
Ann, You have told me before Norton is no good and I know you are right but I am nervous about actually changing. I have the list you gave me of what to install but if I first of all uninstall Norton then go onto the internet to find AVG is there not a danger of getting a virus straightaway. Also, did you mean the free version of AVG? Thanks for your help
Ann*
You can download and save the AVG installation program on to your computer, and then you can install it when you find it most convenient. When you've done that, uninstall Norton, and install AVG (by double-clicking on the icon in the folder where you saved it ~ usually My Documents). Once you've done that, you can set up the scanning schedule and update schedules so everything is done in the background, and you needn't worry about it again, unless it picks up a virus. joat36
I used to get this message every time I rebooted. I also got regular Blue Screen of Death stop errors, normally complaining about driver errors. Uninstall Norton Anti Virus or Norton Internet Security and reinstall the software. If you log into Symantec’s help and support their technician will guide you through it using their chat pages, it takes a while but cured my stop errors as well as correcting the anti virus error. Please uninstall and reinstall" I pay for norton but cannot get it to update automatically and on live update parts won't update. I am not very clever with technical jargon so could you keep it simple please Mags I used this special Norton removal tool a couple of weeks ago to unistall Norton AV I had no problems getting rid of it other than clicking on a few boxes that appeared while it was uninstalling. Read the instructions and if you can print out the web page before uninstalling do so. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&docid=2004092711224136&nsf=nip.nsf&view=docid PS it takes quite a while to uninstall and at times you will think it has gone to sleep.
