Guest06
This afternoon my son and two of his mates were in graves park playing golf when four lads got off the bus and went over and asked to join in. After 5 mins or so one of the lads asked my son the time so my son sneaked a look at his phone which was in his pocket and as he turned back to say the lad punched my son in the face then got him up against the bushes and grabbed his phone. Then the lads decided to start on my sons mate who got smacked over the back of the head with a golf club. The four lads then run off into the woods.. My son and his mates managed to get to the bowling greens where they got help and the police were called. Three of the lads were caught at the top end of the park luckily. Honestly what is happening to this place when you cant even let your kids go to the park for fear of something like this happening to them. My son and his mates are 15 and 16 and these lads were about 17 we think.. My sons phone is still missing so if anyone comes across a samsung d500 please let us know.. Also would just like to say that if anyone on the forum was there today and helped then thankyou.
kittenta
Really sorry to hear about your son, are he and his mates ok? There are some nasty kids about these days but at 17 they should know better. I hope they catch the fourth lad and they get what's coming to them. thingy
It's a shame when you can't go for a quiet game of golf, or a walk without fear of this happening. Me and mrs thingy dont wear watches, and our only way of telling the time is by our phones. Sometimes one of us will wait till there is hardly anyone around to look, or even ask if we see someone. I hate it when people ask me sometimes, because of this. Get in touch with his network provider to block the phone, at least that will stop a bill running up if it's on contract, or at least stop anyone else from using it if it is sold on. Unless he's caught and still got it.
DesertEagle
it just shows how out of hand things are getting. it also shows how low people can go, why not just buy a phone.
RachyW
I live on Meadowhead just down the road from Graves Park. It's such a lovely place and I used to hang out a lot there when I was younger. I cannot believe that things like this are happening during the afternoon in broad daylight, it's absolutely ridiculous. I'm more wary when I go out these days than I was when I was a teenager at school. I'm 24 and live with my parents and they still stay awake at night worrying until I unlock the door and get in bed. I used to think this was daft but now I really appreciate their consideration, and if i'm ever late i will always get in contact to stop the worry. I do hope your son and his mate will be ok and are not too badly hurt. And I hope that justice is done with regards to punishing the idiots who did this. I dread the day that I have my own children and let them out with their friends - what state will the world be in then?
lalaland
I am sorry to hear what happened today, have you reported the IMEI number to the network or the Police? At least that way it will be blocked from all UK networks unless the thief finds someone to change the IMEI number (which is of course illegal) for them. Unfortunatly stuff like this isn't new. I had my mountain bike stolen from me in Millhouses park at knife point by two older and larger teenagers than myself when I was about 13. I'm now 27, so this was going on 14 years or so ago. We chased one of the thieves in someone's car that we managed to get to help us and without his knife wielding mate he was terrified and we managed to detain him until the Police arrived. It was only a couple of hours until he gave up his mate while being questioned, unfortunatly by that point he'd got rid of my bike but at least both were arrested instead of getting clean away. Nothing came of it, except an apology from one of the lad's Dads, but it's better than them getting away totally and at least then they were known to the Police. People like this annoy me, it's a worrying thought to know that your kids aren't as safe as you'd like when they are out enjoying time with their friends. I don't have kids yet, but I am planning to have them soon and would like mine to grow up safely and happily. I hope something is done with the lads caught today, but remember not to give too much detail on here if they are currently being dealt with so as not to jeapardise anything which may come of their arrest. Hope your kid and his mates recover from today.

A golf club to the head could be especially dangerous, if someone was killed it suddenly becomes a hell of a lot more serious.
