A Puppy's Prayer. I thought some of you would like this.

Before I close my eyes to sleep,

Paws pressed tight.

I will not peep

When all is still my prayers I'll say,

Hoping Lord you're listening my way.

Please help me try and settle down

In this new home that I have found,

I sure will try my very best

To help these humans to pass the test

But please do make them understand

I need my own place - nothing grand,

To start an old worn box will do

Until I've learnt I must not chew,

And may I make a special plea

That puppies need much company

Don't let them leave me hours on end

For I shall think I have no friends

Much michief then will be my aim

And doubt if I should feel much shame

I'll do my best when nature calls

I'll try and not mess up their floors

But give them patience Lord I pray

Explain that I can't hold on all day

I sure would like a daily walk

To meet new friends and have a talk

You see dear Lord it's simple things

That happiness to a puppy brings

I say are you still listening Lord?

I guess you are feeling a trifle bored

But just to end I ask of thee

Bless these humans and please bless me.

Makes you realise just how vulnerable these little creatures are.

I've closed my eyes, I'm now asleep,

Paws pressed tight against my cheek,

I dream of hills and pubs and beer,

and other dogs at which to leer :D

I've been a very busy dog,

snuffing bunnies and chasing frogs,

leaping through the undergrowth,

doing things I love the most

My basket's now a welcome nest,

reflecting on my boundless zest,

I'm snoring loud enough to tell

the Strixes that I'm fit and well :P
