borninsheffield
I just want to knw if you back the troops that are serving for your country? Obviously there are wars going on right now, some may agree they are called for, some may not. But what do you think of the troop that serve your country? It really ****** me off because some people I know hate the army, and don't think there should be one at all. But yet if there is a natural disaster or anything they would want the army's help. nick2
The Army do a good job, they don't decide where they go and what they do, the government do that. So it's possible to support the troops (which we all should) without agreeing with where they are or what they are doing (which a lot of us don't)
LordChaverly
I think the armed forces are generally held in high regard in this country, unlike the politicians who have put them in harms way (for no good reason, in several recent cases). KenH
Regardless of whether you agree with the wars or not, the people in the Army are doing their job and doing what they are told. I support them without reservation and really hate it when bad things are said about them. The only thing I wouldn't want to happen is for the over the top support that they get in the US (at least when things are going well). I remember being in the US during one of the early successful wars, and hearing a hotel receptionist calling two sailors "heroes" and telling them how proud she was of them. This was several hundred miles inland and they probably worked in a recruitment office so it was all a bit over the top.
JoeP
I agree - I wholeheartedly support the servicemen and women, even if I have the occasional reservation about the use to which they are put. I have no difficulties with supporting the warriors, even if I have problems with supporting the war in which they fight. Oddly enough, I had more reservations about the Cold War than I do about our current conflicts.
borninsheffield
Im in the Territorial and we are expected to be mobilised every 4 or 5 years. I personally want to go and serve my country, it issomething I would be extremely proud of. It just really gets to me when people do not back our army. People don't have to back the decisions made on war but troops don't have a choice, they get their orders and thats that. People amy work in civiallian job are totally against the british army, they don't think there should be one at all. WHY!?
BasilRathbon
People don't have to back the decisions made on war but troops don't have a choice, they get their orders and thats that. Of course they have a choice! We don't have conscription in this country, so they must have voluntarily joined up and can therefore voluntarily leave. Will you be going in the air or not? I wouldn't mind transferring to Paras but that would mean travelling to Donny every Tuesday and weekends which I don't fancy. Plus I have alot of friends in my detatchemnt right now anyway.
