lalaland
I drove down Peniston Road today and saw a car parked on the central reservation in a position that looks like it's being used for advertising. The car is covered in Protint stickers, so I presume it's being used for advertising. I've seen broken down vehicles on there before, but this is parked in a way to maximise the view to passing cars and doesn't appear to be broken down. I'd have thought that with Sheffield having such keen parking staff this would have been a prime target instead of preying on those people that have problems parking at the Hallamshire while requiring hospital treatment, but it seems to be going unchallenged. Not sure if this is the first day it's been there or not or if this is a regular advertising scheme, but I wouldn't have thought it was legal to park on the central reservation like that. viking
If it's there tomorrow , stop and torch it. Most of these window tint thing are illegal anyway.
tazman
They will probably keep well away from it Lalaland as if they did issue it a ticket, they might end up meeting some irate vehicle owner who might appear a little too intimidating for the parking service staff. Anyway, why bother with just one vehicle that could cause you untold grief when you can just bimble about during the week, nailing all the decent motorists that as mentioned earlier have to go to the hospital and will more than likely pay up, but better still they can then really earn their keep on Saturdays when they can start hitting all the football fans at 3.30pm like they did last Sat round Heeley and that area. Why dont they go and have a look down at Fir Vale, Page Hall and Burngreave areas any time and day of the week where some motorists just park at bus stops, footpaths, zig zag areas around pedestrian crossings and in other dangerous obstructive positions. But the same will apply as they might be confronted with the vehicle owner whereas round the hospital and football grounds on match days, it is easy hit and run enforcement. lalaland
It does annoy me that the soft targets around the hospital are ticketed all the time, yet if you travel around the Greystones area where people park on corners and other stupid places there's not one ticket issued. Also there are always cars opposite the old Bed nightclub on London Road, why are they never ticketed? They park on double yellow lines. Both above examples are easy targets just as the hospital tickets are, except the hospital tickets are normally given to people that actually need to park there for hospital attention and the two examples above are just convenience parking. Why not have a go in other areas?
Tony
The Council / Police will be able to have it removed on a number of grounds really: Planning permission( unlawful advertisement), road safety, causing an obstruction, abandoned vehicle, etc. If the owner is reading this he'd better get it moved before it disappears on the back of a recovery truck and he gets the bill for removing a car to the crushing yard.. lalaland
They appear to be a Sheffield based company, but according to google they are based a bit further down the road than where the car is left.
Meaks
I've seen cars parking along the middle around there too. To be fair, although they are parked illegally, they aren't actually causing an obstruction so I see it as pretty harmless. Parking Services time would be better spent down Fir Vale. tazman
lalaland Protint is based within the old premises of Brook Shaw in the business park down there and the vehicle I think you refer to is sometimes parked on the central island near to Twelve o clock court on Savile Street as you head out of town. Is it the white Ford type vehicle with all the blue writing on it advertising Protint. ??

That's the one, quite deservedly referred to as the 'Chav Mobile' by the people at my work

I noticed yesterday evening Parking Services where very active around roads near the Sheffield Wednesday football ground furiously writing out as many tickets as is possible before the match ended.
