kimmie
I have been really ill recently, as i have just moved to the doncaster i want registered with the docs over here. Now i phoned nhs direct for advice on what to do about my illness, and they said go to the doctors. So we phoned my fiancees doctor and explained the situation, and they said tehy couldn't see as i was'nt registered with them. So my mum phoned my old doctors and asked them for advice and they said teh doctors should see me as a temporary patient, so we phoned back told them and they agreed to see me. A week later i still wasnt any better, so again i phoned nhs direct, and again i had to get in touch with the doctors. I phoned them and and told them the situation, and again they replied they couldnt see me as i was not registered there. So i said teh nhs direct had told me that you must see me as a temporary patient and she just laughted down teh phone at me, and went to ask someone, she came back on saying sorry we cannot see you, and wouldnt have any of it when i tried to expalin that they had seen me before. My fiancee phoned them up furious at them, and they said take her to the hospital (bearing in mind i had already been to the hospital twice the week before). And the finished teh conservation by saying well we cant see her anyway because we close at 1 (we know where threre priorities are then!!!) I am absolutely disgraced at their behaviour! to say it is an nhs run doctors is pathetic! I have finally got an appointment with the doctor this afternoon, lets see of they are any good! Shoudl doctors see patients on a temporary basis??? p.s. we also told them that i would be registering with them and they still refused!
stackmonkey
as far as I'm aware, yes they should; it just means lots of extra paperwork, which could well be what put them off. A couple of years ago I was left in a similar situation having moved areas.
willman
its an unfortunate dilemna you find yourself in. however the correct way to have done things was to register when you first moved. couldnt you get home to visit your normal doctor. no disrespect to the op, but people seem to think that they can demand when & where a doctor works to suit them. this is not the case. you have to conform to what they say. it doesn't suit everyone but it is a fairer system. Cyclone
You can register as a temporary patient at any practice in theory. You should find out how to make a complaint about this particular surgery. Students generally do this, as reregistering at a home practice when they go home for the summer is foolish. kimmie
well thats what else was said, and it would mean that i have to get on a bus in docaster to sheffield tehn get on a tram then got on another bus and i just wasnt in a fit state! i was in the process of registering with the doctor, the second time round and they still refused to see me! tom3t0
i remember a fw months back when i had a throat infection i went to the doctors at 6 in the morning i was feeling so ill i was struggling to breathe and couldnt swallow my saliva and having to constantly spit it down the toilet, obviously it wasnt open so i returned home passed out and went when i woke up at about 10- too late for an appoinment come back tomorrow, my mother rung for me later and being a nurse told them they should have seen me right away, anyways they said well oh we have some free appoinments come in 15mins and while i was waiting the doctor came and asked the receptionist if shed been keeping appoinments free (presumably he wanted to clock off early)
