Nomis
Watched a programme on ITV last night about this. Basically, its where people attempt to deliberately cause motor accidents in order to claim off the insurance companies. I.e. A car could be in front of you and it then brakes for no apparent reason causing you to run into the back of it. All this results in higher premiums, loss of no claims bonus, and some criminal making a bucketful of money....
kittenta
I bet they won't try it in front of a lorry. There are some stupid people about, they obviously aren't bothered about their own health.

You're supposed to leave enough distance to brake if the driver in front does this anyway. Maybe they're providing a public service? :hihi:

simondjuk
But surely if they have been caught on camera, the evidence points to who was at fault
lesbaxby
I work in Insurance claims dealing with injury claims, part of my job is to repudiate 'fraud' claims, and the 'staged' accident is commonplace, however, as an insurance company we are doing as much as possible to prevent these 'scumbags' from making! AlBal
Yeah i watched this last night too!! I was gobsmacked, i cannot below the lengths some people will go to for money. This stupid crime makes innocent people's premiums go up and also lose there no claims.....very thoughtful!
lesbaxby
The main point being that 'everyones' insurance goes up, many of these people that 'stage' accidents don't have valid insurance in any case. But if you hit someone in the rear your insurance still has to deal with the third parties claim even if this is the case!
