Wireless Connection Problems

Hi all! I have recently moved into a house with a Cable Broadband connection in the main bedroom. The Main PC for the house is connected up in this bedroom.

However Im up in the attic, and we have bought a wireless router and a wireless card/adapter too..

Everything was great for the first week. no connection problems at all, however during this last week, everytime I connect on to LimeWire etc, the whole connection is crashing, and I need to go downstairs and reset the modem on the main computer to make mine work again up in the attic...

Can anyone tell me why? and if i can fix it, how would be the best way?

Thanks x

:hihi:

Could be interference from somewhere...

or it could be the router?? Is it a linksys by any chance?

yes its linksys lol

and limewire was working fine, but now, its not :(

would a wired connection be better than wireless?

and thanks for ur replies

Yes. It'd be more reliable.... though perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing. :)

ooh, these exact words have been said about me in the past...

im still confused with this problem though.. last week i could download thru limewire no probs.. and now all of a sudden i cant... :suspect:

personally, i think its all part of a conspiracy... lol

what LinkSys is it? wRT54G© ??? Cause there's a known problem with some of them, where it keeps dropping the connection, totally, and a reboot of the router fixes it, I had this problem..

Leave it switched off for a good 10 minutes dear.

Also see if there is a firmware update for the router.

I know I was supposed to be coming over to have a butchers but have been a bit rubbish, don't know if it sounds like I could fix it anyway. :(
