peterw
I expect it’s an obligatory part of getting a seat for the National Lottery show, but clapping and cheering every number that comes out is a bit over the top to say the least! For a start, a number is a number. It doesn’t do a cartwheel, it doesn’t sing, it doesn’t even tell a joke. All it does is pop up from a tube, and that’s the cue for trememdous applause? It’s barmy! I wouldn’t mind if every member of those audiences actually had those numbers on their lottery tickets, but you can bet your life that when they get home to check ’em they’ve probably got one or two or even three, and even the latter isn’t worth clapping and cheering. Six — Yes. Crippled as I am, I might even try a cartwheel just for the hell of it, but no clapping or cheering because I’d be doing my best to keep it to myself. I don’t think I could cope with all the begging letters.
nick2
I didn't think anyone actually watched that program.
NEKRO138
They have people clapping to keep Dale Winton happy. If they don't clap, he gets all upset and his orange glow fades. The man is powered by applause.
upinwath
I always assumed that they got paid. Why would anyone want to see this 'clap' live ? (or at all)
nick2
If they put the draw right at the start of the program no-one would bother watching the "entertainment" part of it.
simondjuk
We could start a new trend. Stand outside a newsagent and wait for someone with a scratchcard. When they start scratching, start clapping!
crookes
I think we should start clapping at people who clap and the last man still standing gets the drinks in.
peterw
I think we should start clapping at people who clap and the last man still standing gets the drinks in. Like it! If it meant getting the drinks in I’d be the first man out.
banesmabes
Is it still canned clapping on the Wednesday draw? Haven't seen an actual live audience on that one for ages, but still there's a crowd going mad. Why do they have to insult our intelligence? Why can't they just give out the winning numbers at the end of the news or something rather than having to string things out into twice weekly programmes?
