Firemansam
Where can you get rid of your old PC safely where nobody is going to rip off your ID from your hard drive, and maybe even get some use out of it??
thingy
There is a place on the turner industrial estate at handsworth, next to the driving test centre.... but i've always found them a bit dodgy . But if you are getting rid of it, is there any chance i could take it off your hands. My 7 yr old nephew could do with one as he is starting them at school. Sorry to sound cheeky
molar
It would be best to wipe it clean before you get rid of it. Piece of software called Darik's Boot and Nuke is good (and free!) but you need to be computer savvy to use it. http://dban.sourceforge.net/

sugarcube
please ignore all the silly suggestions about physical destruction. : that method's only usefull if you have serously incriminating data and know your computer is going to and up with an absolute expert who works for the dibble. for the rest of humanity, take a look around the net and you'll find pages similar to this one a zero wipe of the drive and then re-install the OS should ensure nothing can be recovered without days (weeks???) of effort reconstructing.
