robS35
Ok i dont use the bus all that often, but ive suddenly noticed that the 75 Ecclesfield - Jordanthorpe - Ecclesfield bus now seems to terminate at Sheffield Lane Top next to the carpet store, anyone any ideas as to why the change in service, seems a bit odd to me not to just carry on the extra mile down the hill into Ecclesfield. KarenO
One of many changes to the area. I had heard this had stopped going around Ecclesfield. Not advertised well at all. My disabled Uncle uses it a lot to get around the village. He was not aware of the change until a friend of his that saw him stood at the bus stop that had to tell him. North of Sheffield abandoned again!!
Andy C
North of Sheffield abandoned? You want to try using buses in the South West of the City! The changes were on posters on all buses, plus the First bus website, however they only appeared about a week before the changes happened. And as for SYPTE they uploaded PDFs of the new timetables to their website but didn't actually warn anyone of the changes. Surely you cannot really complain that much about the 75 being curtailed, when the 76 goes the same way very frequently anyway? Incidentally in the old days before deregulation the 75 used to turn round at Sheffield Lane Top. This was of course when the 75 went to Bradway rather than Batemoor - ah, the proper Bradway bus.... robS35
Like i said i dont really use the buses thank god so the service change wont really effect me, ok the 76 does go into Ecclesfield but it runs along High Street and down Church Street then up towards Chapletown, so anyone that lives on the lower half of Cross Hill along Green Lane and the Common around where the Police Station is the route that the 75 took are now pretty much up **** creek when it comes to wanting a First Mainline Bus service. KarenO
I have had a few conversations over the last week or so with traveline and am in the process of e-mailing them as i cannot contact their "Customer Comments Line" due to limited opening ours. One interesting comment was that on the now removed 80 service (Sheffield to High Green) - when I said despite using the buses daily my husband had not seen any posters telling passengers about the service being removed i was told "We have had posters on about it but they had the wrong information on them". I am sure North Sheffield is not alone in being abandoned as buses have changed elsewhere too. Most people I speak to from the South end of Sheffield seem to use the Tram. Something that anyone this side past Hillsborough cannot do. I do not use the buses myself but have several family members who have to. I lived in Ecclesfield pre 75/76 route days so know how the service has changed there - and how the 265 Barnsley bus was made a limited stop so anyone past Sheffield Lane top could get on it to get home. Something the bus companies will not now do on other services.
Daven
The South of Sheffield is not that well served by Supertram - it ends at Gleadless !
KarenO
The people I speak to must not live too far south then. I do not claim that it is just North Sheffield that is badly served. I can only speak about our local bus services as I do not travel past the city centre. If South Sheffield has bus services as bad as our side then the whole lot needs to be overhauled so that all areas have a fair service run at a price that will get us car users back on the buses but for the time being I will be sticking to my car!
