I recently downloaded Firefox on the advice of several people to overcome the flashing screen and overlapping pages problems experienced in the chatroom using IE.

However, it won't let me log out from here. I logout but everytime I return I appear to be still logged in ... that is I dont have to sign in, I can just click onto a thread.

I don't want to get a rep as a Forum Squatter ... so can any of you techie types tell me why this is happening, please?

Log Out.

Then press <Ctrl>+<F5> (which reloads the page from the server, rather than your local cache)

Even if you 'stay logged in' you wont show as "logged in" on the main page unless your activly viewing the site, You could also ask it to not keep you logged in or remember your password etc when you login (the tick box)

it storres it in a local cookie, but the above method works too ;)

That's a great tip.

I've been messing about with web pages/uploading to webspace and it tokk me about a day to realise that my edited pages were uploading to the webspace, i was just viewing an earlier cached page

I've done all that Ghozer, I never let anywhere keep me logged in or remember my password, due to past bad experiences with someone getting into my private stuff *shudders at the memory* :D

I do show as on site, because I've asked someone to check me out when I'm supposedly logged out.

It's a mystery - I'll try that tip though, thanks sccsux.

edit to say - i've just realised what your screenname says .. hehee .. how slow am I! I say scux to myself usually

I thought I sussed it out a while back as 'sheffield city council sucks'

Is that what you get rubydazzler?
