Here are the ones I remember.

Jimi

The Move

Amen Corner

Pink Floyd

The Nice

All on for fifteen minutes each but Jimi got twenty.

There were two shows that night early/late. Which one were you at?

I remember a guy walking up to the stage at the end and throwing a Union Jack to Jimi that he wrapped around his shoulders as he played his encore.

I think Hendrix appeared in Sheffield a good few years before then..I recall him backing Little Richard when he was only 15 years old..I think I saw him at the Gaumont...and the Rolling Stones were bottom of the bill, they did 2 songs, "Talking about you" ( Chuck Berry), and then their 1st recording "Come on"..

And I didn't think they were any good, in fact my mates and I said they were rubbish compared to some of the Sheffield bands....I've still got the program from the night.

If you remember it, you can't have been there....

As the old saying goes

Think you must be confusing him with someone else.

Hendrix first came to England in September 1966, rehearsed for two months and started touring in December.

His first appearance in Sheffield was January 8th 1967 at the MOJO club.

Hendrix would have been fifteen around 1956.

Sorry, you must have dreamed that story. Jimi arrived in Britain for the first time in September 1966, when he was 24. He never toured Britain with Little Richard or anyone else, other than his own band

The City Hall concert was on 17 November 1967. Other than the bands already mentioned, Eire Apparent and Outer Limits were on the bill

Jimi was part of a much stranger package tour in April 1967. The tour didn't come to Sheffield, but I saw it in Chesterfield.

The line-up was:

The Walker Brothers, Cat Stevens, Englebert Humperdinck and Jimi Hendrix!

This was the tour where Jimi first set fire to his guitar.

Thanks - I did not realise that two shows were on that night.

I can remember Andy of Amen Corner kneeling down on stage

at the climax of "Gin House".

I can also recall Pink Floyds Lightshow - superb (At the time).

Those were the days.

It was the ABC Cinema.

I recall that Jimi closed the first half and all the mums & dads who had come to see Englebert walked out!

I looked this up on "Google" all about Little Richard..

(After three years of little success as a gospel performer Richard went back to Rock and Roll.. October, 1962 he began a tour of England and year later toured Europe with the Rolling Stones as his opening act.

A number of record companies took notice and invited him back to the studio, but they were only interested in repackaging his old hits. Specialty, in five sessions attempted to rekindle the 1957 magic.

During this period Jimi Hendrix was briefly Richard's guitarists.)

The story has it that Little Richard sacked Jimmy because he looked too good on stage, and took the limelight off him.
