muddywolf
Wow lots of insurance questions pert is good at answering Anyway I have 2 very tiny chips in my windscreen (each about 2mm diameter but right in front of the driver) can these be repaired without affecting my no claims bonus what so ever (and without me being out of pocket too) I hear they only get bigger so best to fix em when there small. Noodle
If you have comprehensive insurance you can. Sometimes chips can be fixed without replacing the glass so it may cost you nothing. Otherwise you'll have to pay a small excess. If you have third party fire and theft you can't claim for own damage...
Shiesh
You quite often see repairers in Supermarket carparks and they do the repair whilst you are shopping just by giving them your insurance company details !! I had mine repaired whilst shopping at Asda but I've seen them at Morrisons and on Drakehouse Retail Park too!!

Yea im fully comp You quite often see repairers in Supermarket carparks and they do the repair whilst you are shopping just by giving them your insurance company details !! Yea I remember seeing them at Macro once (before I had these chips caused by a road trip to devon) but I worry they will reset my no claims Maybe I will get it in writing from them first if I see em around again. I wonder how it works too, I can see how they can fill it in so the surface is smooth but can you still actually see the chip ? Good stuff if you cant. You can actually still see the chip on my windscreen but the glass is smooth! It doesn't affect no claims bonus - replacement windscreens or repairs never do! BluePolo
Replacement windscreens are usually subject to an excess charge. Repairs don't affect the no claims.
BluePolo
Insurance companies will pay for chip repairsbecause it is cheaper for them than paying for a full windscreen if the chip turns into a crack.
Noodle
This is interesting! For the sad amongst us! Tells you how they repair cracks in glass...
garryn
Just had to have my windscreen placed due to a bullseye, which was spreading. £75 excess (Tesco's - they put it up on all policies from £50 last year). Got to be their fitters - usually says which ones on your schedule. Repair would have been free of excess
