dwhl
hi there, i have a dell desktop....bought it with no speakers... want to buy some speakers now, but my friend said i need to buy a sound card first.... my question is, do i already have a sound card because i can see a headphone socket and microphone socket on the computer and i managed to plug in some cheap speakers into it and there was sound. secondly, if i don't have a sound card, do i need one? will it make much difference? Cheers for your help David
Ghozer
If you have a headphone socket on the front, and similar (jack) sockets on the back (usually coloured, Green/pink and Blue) then you have a sound card and should just purchase some speakers and use the GREEN socket on the back for them.. melthebell
if youve got sound sockets..........and can hear sound, youve got sound it'll be on board the motherboard..............cheaper you only need a soundcard IF you either want a decent / better sound, more options etc OR dont have onboard sound. youll be ok hint - buy some speakers with a bit of bass, mine are ok and were only £9.99 every others ive had (with the puters) are really tinny
