KenH
My daughter started at her new school on Tuesday and had to get the bus. Last night she waited at the stop and the bus went straight past her despite putting out her hand. There were a few other well behaved children and one adult who said he had then missed a meeting in town as a result. She says the bus was almost empty. Because this is only the third time she has been on a bus by herself and she was 40 minutes late home she was rather upset. Can I do anything about this and is it a normal occurance? Halibut
If your daughter knows what time it was and the number of the bus then you could ring the company and ask for an explanation.
*binty*
It wasn't Lester_Bigot driving the bus what it? He usually does that sort of thing http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=139571
JoeP
KenH, First port of call is to contact the Operator. If it's a School's Service, then you can contact SYPTE as well.
KenH
Thank, yes I know the bus number and have her timed ticket from the next one that came along. What I was really wanting to know is whether this kind of thing is quite normal and whether I am wasting my time in making a complaint or not? It wasn't a school service it was a normal bus. JoeP
It happens and occasionally you may get a response. However....some time ago I complained about poor driving standards on a bus and heard nothing; I wouldn't hold your breath, I'm afraid. Take a look at the letters pages of the Star - there are frequently stories about kids being left at bus stops, and it sucks.

I don't read the star and rarely travel on buses so I don't know much about this. Since my 11 year old daughter will now will be making extensive use of the buses I would like to know what she can expect so I can forewarn her. I will complain just so there is a record but I feel that someone in authority should have some sanction if a bus company regularly does this sort of thing. In my daughters case she was a bit upset becasue she thought we would worry that she was late, which we didn't to be honest as we thought she would be stuck in traffic. In her case there are lots of buses but other children might only have hourly buses and this sort of thing might be a real pain.

carpetviper
i have experienced the well behaved little darlings in the past they kindly removed the rear seats to make more room and threw them out of the back windows this is why drivers do not stop these days for some school kids. It also make a difference what uniform they wear if they have the ecclesfield uniform on forget it you well as buy her a mini moto.
BasilRathbon
Early evening a vast number of buses have "sorry - not in service"or suchlike on their display, but they're normally going so fast that the average person at the stop hasn't time to read it. Was the stop anywhere near the Olive Grove bus depot?
