Should 'Fat' Frank Lampard be dropped now?

Given that he's playing like a muppet for England should he be dropped and Carrick given a good run in the side.

Every manager always seems to have their achilles heel player, that no matter how bad they play they always seem to get picked..is Frank McLarens constant dodgy pick??

Sven - Beckham

Keegan - Cole

Hoddle - Eileen whatsherface

Venables - Anderton

Taylor - Carlton Palmer

Wouldn't do him any harm to be demoted to the bench for a few games. Might help him improve his game. He's starting to get back on form for Chelsea now. I think it's a case of too many big games in the last couple of years, eg Champions League, Premier Title, England, which most players can handle but I think Frank is in the minority group of players who need a break from that. He needs to come on as sub for a bit so he can refocus on his game.

What a ridiculous idea.

Carrick and Hargreaves in midfield, what an abundance of attacking options that offers!!

Ok so Lampard has scored 1 goal in about 10? So fkin what, does that mean he is playing bad?

People seem to judge him on goals as though he's a striker, get real, he holds the team together and moving Gerrard to the right has given him renewed vigour.

Frank when he retires will be an England legend!

I also dont rate lampard too highly, and i agree with Wibbles here, he just isnt performing with England, maybe he has a lack of confidence playing internaionally but there is a big difference with the way he plays at Chelsea, which might just be the fact he has so many more quality players surrounding him.

Amazing how arguably the best manager in the world rates him to the tune of 100k a week!

He's a good player, of that there is no doubt. He is having a mare for england at the mo so should be dropped.

So what attacking midfielder would you bring in assuming Gerard is playing in his preferred right wing berth?

The only one that could possibly fit in there is Joe Cole and he is unfit.

If he was to drop Lampard, I would probably plump for some untried, untested done it at premiership level player. Someone like Steve Davis at Villa.

Have to disagree with you there, anyone with a blank cheque book will win matches.

As for Lampard, he had a crap World Cup, but he aint looking that bad I reckon, just desperately needs to score which he nearly did against Maccedonia.

i think gerrard is the best central midfielder you have(im a republic of ireland fan) so if you dropped lampard the best move would be to move gerrard in the middle with hargreaves(carrick has earned his right but you cant play two holding players its a case of one or the other) i think gerrard works great when he has someone slightly behind him which was why he and lampard didnt work as they are both too attacking but then who do you play on the right?
