esme
as a slightly cheaper alternative there's always swishmax at http://www.swishzone.com/index.php
dosxuk
Another vote for Flash here
RiffRaff
My votes for Swishmax too....cheaper, easier, and you can kick off with a free trial... Also recently loaded MotionArtist - looks quite good, but have yet to really test it. If you're just wanting to play around with text FX, Flax is worth a look.... fnkysknky
Grab Flash from the Adobe site as it has a 30 day free trial like just about all the Adobe/Macromedia products. See if you like it.
RiffRaff
Further to my Swishmax recommendation earlier, I should have said that you're able to convert your finished work to an *.swf file when you're happy with the result....
