Englands Left Side problem solved.

Is it only me or is it the general consensus that Downing is nailed down his place in the starting XI.

However good a player J Cole may be, he is simply not a winger, espeically on the left side as he always cuts inside and defenders have sussed him out.

Downing has shown pace, power and a superb left foot already in his 3 starts creating problems a plenty.

I think Spurs have a bargain if they can prise him from Boro for around 15m

Were you watching the same match as me last night!?! He was awfull!!! Englands worst player by far. Not sayin he is no good, he has plenty of potential but zero experience at this level, he needs to go to a bigger club to get that. The sooner Joe Cole gets back the better.

I have to agree with you, I dont rate him at all if i'm honest. However, he his a big favourite with Steve Mcclaren who obviously sees something in him. I also think Frank Lampard has been well under par of late, and had a very dissapointing World Cup. It may be worth dropping him for a game or two to try and shake him up a little!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Downing has got no balls! Yes he's fast on the wing but 9 x out of 10 when a defender bears down on him he either hesitates or backs off. He won't take on players.

Look at 4 foot nothing Lennon, totally different class of player, or SWP, they take on players in their stride. Sorry folks but there is no room for wussies in the England squad.
