Would you employ a known member of the BNP?

Recommended Posts

yeah but being racist is illegal,so they should be in jail not at work.

no it isn't, it's just offensive and unpleasant.

Why not, surely everyones got a right to their own views and beliefs, would it be an issue in relation to the job they do, if not then why is it an issue?

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Lee. For me it would have to be down to whether I thought it would affect their ability to do the job I was employing them for. If they are a cleaner for instance their political bias wouldn't make a difference to the job they do. If however they work directly with the public as say a security guard or on a help desk I would be a lot more reluctant to employ them. I don't think I could guarantee that they would offer the same level of service to everyone that they would meet.

I think this is a stupid discussion people find it easy to pick on the BNP because they are an easy target. Would we be having this discussion about other groups i doubt it cus we would all get called racist/prejudised!!!

i wouldnt have an issue employing a member of any party. i would have a problem working with a member of any party who spouted drivel all day long - particularly if i found it offensive to my own attitudes.

so i wouldnt work with any BNP,Communist,Socialist devotees. i use devotee to mean staunch/firm believer not just someone who supports some of the ideals of the parties.

I would imagine the thread was actually sparked off by the recent announcement that a BNP member had been sacked, allegedly for their political beliefs. You might not be aware of this as the thread was removed not long after it was started as the poster was talking about taking legal action and I suggested that it may affect their case if they talked about it on an open forum.

Yeah, if they were fit for the Job.

I'd be more hesitant if they were a member of the PLP.

The poster in question is more than just a member of the party though, he's stood for election for the party.

Honk!

I would give a job - for the same reason I would give a fundementalist christian a job - so I could argue with their hateful beliefs all day. AND get paid!

I didnt no that. I think its disgracefull that someone can be sacked for their political beliefs. Nationalist politics has always been around and always will be so how can an employer all of a sudden just sack them?
