kittenta
This may sound like an obvious question but... I have just found homes for my cats four kittens (not the new ones) and I am wanting to get their mum spayed (she has had three litters altogether) but she is always escaping! I have other cats and a cat flap as they would go mad not being able to get out when they wished. Plus if i lock the cat flap the dog breaks it ramming her head through it! Problem is I really don't want her getting caught again and I can't stand the thought of shutting her up in a room for the next 8 weeks (vet said i had to wait 8 weeks from when the kittens went?). Any ideas? She wasn't meant to have a third litter but she escaped and went missing:(

medusa
The major thing that you need to remember with this is that directly after having a litter queens have a season, so she'll be out on the razz with the tomcats if you let her out. The only way that you can be sure to keep her in is to keep her and the babies more than one door from the outside, and be absolutely diligent in keeping her in that space. Very very hard work, but she has to stay in until her milk has dried up and she's been spayed (oh, and they have another season when their milk dries up too!). We recently had a cat in the Shelter who came in when her kittens were 2 weeks old, and somehow managed to get fatter before they weaned, unlike most mums who get really skinny at that stage. Yup, she'd conceived again before her kittens were 2 weeks old. Another thing to bear in mind- you can't have her spayed when she's in season, but if she gets out while she's in season you can book her in to be spayed as soon as the dirty little stopout gets home! kittenta
I'm afraid my only sensible offer of advice is This I think my cat would look good in that lol. It isn't the one thats just had babies medusa its that ones mum. Her kittens were rehomed yesterday. I've tried keeping her in the bedroom but she rips everything to pieces and I feel guilty shutting her in there (i do open the window when i'm in) and of course she comes out for food etc.
