kittenta
thx for that only I thought aol used it's own browser. I'm sure it isn't internet explorer. It does say use internet explorer settings but in there the only thing that mentions java is already on enable. I changed it to prompt to see if that worked but it didn't change anything If i try the chat in here i just get the outline of a box with a red cross in it. Thanks for trying anyway! Jabberwocky
Hi There, made these changes, still won't work Obviously it thinks I do enough chatting without the chat rooms Wierd... if i were you id just go to keywords and try variations of the word Java and itll get you something eventually. Failing that you could download a mirc script and get to thousands of chatrooms.

BobbyBunny
Really sorry to say this but best thing you can do is get broadband if you don't have it already (from AOL) and then you don't have to use their browser... Sorry I can't offer any help..
Savannah2
AOL runs on the IE rendering engine, try firefox and see if Java works on there fo you. If you have a router you dont have to install AOHell's crappy 200MB software.
