kittenta
Have you asked at the library in the town centre? I know someone else who wanted this and i'm sure they said they found it through the library.
Tracie
You might like to try the Sheffield Archives too. I know they definitely hold some burial records there. Good luck!
DIANAA
i was wondering if there was a site on here that holds that information
Daven
I don't think you can get any of the burial records online but , as stated by another poster, the Sheffield Archives have all the records for Sheffield cemeteries there and it is all on microfilm . The people there are very helpful and will show you how to work the machines etc but you have to do all the searching ! I was there very recently and it is a fascinating place ! You do need to have a few plans and clues as to what you are looking for before you go though otherwise you could be there a long time. Give them a ring - the number is in yellow pages - they will explain what you need to take as proof of ID etc. Good luck !
mogbad
DIANAA Burial records are kept at City Road Cemetery. If you have the name & approxiomate date of death they should be able to tell you which cemetery they are buried in & the specific plot. The last time I checked they had to look through some pretty ancient books to get the information but they were in the process of computerising at all. Daven
Have you tried posting a thred on the Sheffield History Forum about specific names etc. You may be amazed what information and tips you can pick up on there !
summer1955
it depends what you want are you trying to find were someone may be burried or when they were or do you know were they are and want to know whos burried with them. you can find out whos burried in a grave but they charge you. someone can look up for you if you have a specific name and know a year or abouts to see where they are burried . i have the national burriel index 2nd edition but city road is not in that but sheffield records online are putting city road burriels on their site. Daven
If you go to the Sheffield Archives and have time to go through the microfilms the grave plots and numbers are on there- and they don't charge you a penny !
GabbleRatcht
As said, the info is out there but it is not on the net. You have to go through the local authorities and depending on which LA it is it might be a different department. Not much use I know, but the info is all kept in dept. A funeral adviserer will probably be able to point you in the right direction. They are nice people. They have to be.
