okka north
Iv'e been trying to work out what areas can get freeview. What areas do get freeview, because I can't. Is it because I am surrounded by hills? Don't bode well if we all HAVE to have digital tv in a few years.
never wrong
I can inform you if you tell mewhere you live and then I could probably give you a solution
Sandeh
Go to this website and stick your postcode in and it'll tell you whether you can get coverage in your area. One thing to keep in mind is that most people will also need a new ariel as well as a freeview box which will be an additional cost. http://www.dtg.org.uk/consumer/coverage.html
Katya
I can't get it in Broomhill but if I type in my postcode it says I can - it really depends which way the house is facing and how many trees are in the way. I've got a Sky Freeview box which works fine - and you don't have to subscribe to Sky to have it. It does cost a bit more to buy and install tho'. okka north
I bought the freeview box, told your postcode can't get it and you can't return box, got it home and ah couldn't really get it . yet someone up the road away from the valley area of my area, shall we say without specifying where I live, says she can get it. mmmm. Have to say I am surrounded by hills and many many big trees, and not on my property
silverknight
The other rule of thumb guide is can you get a good channel 5 picture...if yes your aerial should be OK to receive the freeview service. However from 2011 the problem will be over come as the UHF band is revised and signal power can be increased once analogue is closed down. From early drafts on plans to move the UHF channels around (the TV stations broadcasted on)if you are on the Crosspool transmitter a Wide band aerial will still be required
mgblade
i'am in woodseats and i get a spot on freeview picture and on a portable arial!!!
frenchfrie
and I'm not far away from Woodseats and freeview is a no-no. I'm in Bradway and can't get a watchable C5 picture so they may well be something in that rule of thumb. i.e. crap c5 = crap freeview
mystie
Apparently you can't get it at Greenhill, or Ranmoor and if you live in the centre of Sheffield, like I used to we could only get half of the channels available. So it's a good question, is there anybody who can get the full service???
