Zebra
I've seen a wardrobe I want, we are currently wardrobeless and our bedroom is a heap because of it. The clothes rails keep collapsing on us so it's been no good buying any more. So I've seen one I like, it would fit where I want it and it's ideal in terms of colour and style. The problem is that it's ex display, they want to sell the whole bedroom set for £1000, I only want the wardrobe, although I guess I wouldn't cry about the drawers (slightly scratched)but the bedside cabinet and bed (also slightly damaged) are no use to me. The best price I've got so far is £850 for the wardrobe and drawers or £650 for the wardrobe. It might sounds like a deal but I don't feel safe spending that much money, I feel I need some in the bank for emergencies. So I'd like to haggle them down more. Although I can buy cheaper ones at Argos or Ikea I really like this one and haven't seen ANY others I like. Any advice or tips?
yummyyumyum
just be cheeky, tell them youll give em 500 and see what happens. my hubby is very cheeky and gets most things with some sort of discount or a freebie. if the item needs cleaning for example he always gets 10%off . he bought a cp company coat should have been 450 he got them down to 395 by telling them he had seen it cheaper at another store, they also threw in 2 pair of armani socks free of charge. it seems if you have a cheeky side people admire it and give a little, it definately works for my hubby!!. dont look too eager to buy, if you do they will push you for the higher price
artisan
How many times have you been asking about this item, if you have shown too much interest, they may be reeling you in. Decide how much money you want to pay. If they are not dodgy people, go with cash in your pocket and offer aprice below the price you are willing to pay(£100 less for instance) Say to them, 'look that is my price for cash, here now, I am offering it.' If they refuse, say to them, 'look this the final offer, I cant justify any more fore an ex display model that is so badly damaged' If they still refuse walk away, 9 times of ten they will call you back and start negotiating. You have to be as cute as they are.
