Patrick1346
I plan to set up a web site for my business. I expect that 1000's of people will access the site. Does anyone have a steer about how I find a web hosting company, can anyone recommend a company that they have used or have knowledge of. Thanks
Ghozer
It depends what sort of hosting, if you need DNS control/access, how many FTP users you want, if you want them to handle your email(s) or not, and if so, how many email boxes... also how much space you want, and if your hosting any downloads of any kind also... (incase you dont know, DNS control is basically control of your website address, the DNS is what turns the address into the IP number to identify what machine your site is on)
xafier
Personally I use http://www.hostaway.net , I'm on their Gold package, but paying $8.95 a month it all really depends on a few things: amount of storage space you need amount of bandwidth you'll need how many mailboxes what server side technologies you need... PHP? ASP? JSP? how many databases do you need? if any? these are all things you need to think about and then compare packages from other companys... currently you can get some great deals with US companies due to the exchange rate
DaFoot
There are more than enough hosting companies out there that would bite your hand off... Have a think first, what are you putting on your website? Lots of images/videos? Do you need serverside code or purely static HTML? Feel free to PM me to discuss - I tried sending you a PM but your not accepting them it seems.

Guest
As others have said it depends on your needs. Decide what you want the website to do both now and in the future and then decide on a hosting company. I use bluehost.com who are a US firm and they've been great so far. Joelc
http://www.catalyst2.com http://www.hosting-unlimited.net I'd steer clear of American based sites, as if something does go pop, or breaks, its not so easy to just ring them to get it fixed.
