Guest Pauly
I work in the gas section at Kier Sheffield and on the whole when I'm in a tenant's house I get on well with most people cos I'm polite, friendly and enjoy a bit of a chat if they're friendly back, and most people are. However yesterday I had a very unfriendly woman having a go at me just because I wanted to move her washer to one side to test her gas pipes for any leaks. She proceeded to viciously attack Kier (through me I might add) saying that they were useless and everytime someone came around they did something wrong and something got broke etc. In my opinion this is a minority case (the woman had a serious attitude problem that had to be seen to be believed) but I'm just curious of other people's opinion on the company and it's workers as a whole. Would any council tenants or drivers who've encountered Kier vans on the road (they're everywhere) care to give their opinions please? Praise or grumble, I'm interested in any feedback whether positive or very negative. Cheers, P.
RichC
I've heard nothing but grumbles about Kier, I'm afraid, through people who've had their council houses 'done up' by them.
yorkiepudd
I echo the comments above regarding Kier, but in my experience it was always down to the supervisors, not the workmen themselves. Most I have had dealings with have been top notch people, they have just been given tasks that they had little or no experience in. The real tradespeople, such as gas fitters, electricians etc. have always been the business. Whilst I can empathise with any bad 'Kier' experiences, there's no need to take it out on an individual. carcrash
Don't get me started. Blocking off a ****ing footpath for 18 months which means I have to take a path through smack alley or walk for the best part of half a mile to get to the shops. They did this without telling anybody in the area and then sent letters out 5 days after it was done asking people who had any concerns about the path closing to get in touch with the council before the work was started. A pox on all of them.

I always seem to get the same two plumbers who are lovely blokes and I ensure they have a cuppa whilst they work. No problems with them ever really. mojo1
Kier are great, they have to come out so often to fix the same radiator leak they already fixed several times already, that i feel they are a part of the family. I wish i could report better to you, but this is the least of my problems with them and i don't wish to upset you. The standard of work is my issue, I have never met a kier workman who was unpleasant.
dieselbabe
I use to have problems with them at my old home maily getting jobs done. but now i moved i have nothing but praise for the ones who doing my house up. I get the same plaster guys at my home as i was told im very polite to them and just let them get on with it and have a banter, and ive even been told this by they boss who as also asked me on the phone if i mind waiting for them to do the work as i need a LOT of plaster work done and they can get on with the job in my home (as you seen yourself pauly when you came and did my gas service and did a brill job that my home is not tip top at mo). But in the past i use to have a guy that not only me that had trouble with but also a few others who worked in electric bit. and when he came out he was asking questions if i was single and seen i got a kid as i had photo's up on the wall, then he asked if i had a screwdriver i could borrow him and not a butter knife as he put it as "MOST YOUNG MOTHERS HAVE TO CHANGE A PLUG". I did ask him why he did not bring his stuf from the van and his reply was that is was raining. He was well rude and i know it happend to a few other woman i knew from my daughter old school that this happend to a few of them too. he was nice but soon as he found out there was single mothers he was very rude. But i shut him up when i get my tool box out with my bag of tricks and also he knew i was A WORKING SINGLE MUM as he was over hearing my convo with a work friend of mine about work, then he was nice to me then, but i never reported no work men befor till then, i know he got a few complaints from a few woman but he was very strange bloke. Zebra
Hmm, I had some work done in the past by a lovely young chap who tried and tried and tried to get my boiler working. When he couldn't he spent ages on the phone trying to find another source of inspiration. When that didn't work he came back again. Dedication! I was most impressed
kittenta
I've never had any problems with them. Always been very polite etc. Not like the previous company who did repairs. thieving gets is all i'm saying! It's the system for reporting repairs etc. Half the time you report it they never come and you have to phone and tell them again but this shouldn't be taken out on the workmen, it's nothing to do with them.
