bex78
I need 6.5.. DPN's but can only find them up to 6mm. I need it to make a cord for my bag, but I cant find the correct size. It needs felting anyway so I cant see that half a MM will matter too much?
Guest
Mmm. Tricky. My instinct is to say no, it won't matter, but with the cord likely to be quite small in diameter you might notice a decrease. I'd do a little test cord with the smaller needles, felt it and see what it looks like.
AmelieB
Like Hecate says, probably not, but when you felt you want things to be knitted fairly loosely so try it and see if it works. You can buy 6.5 mm DPNshere if it turns out you do need one
Lucy-Lastic
You seem to be able to get Britanny birch dpns in 6.5mm - http://www.pmwoolcraft.co.uk are one supplier or these people have that size in Inox. HTH
Guest
...when you felt you want things to be knitted fairly loosely so try it and see if it works. ... That's a good point. You'll get some degree of shrinkage with the felting process, so if you do end up having to use the smaller needles, a test would be wise to make sure it doesn't turn out a little too narrow. Is this for the Booga bag, by the way?
bex78
it is for the bag. Now I've seen places I can buy the right size I'll just get them so I know it will be the right size. The yarn knits on 4.5mm needles, but the pattern knits on 6.5 so it is looser I guess to allow for the shrinkage.
bex78
Well, I have ordered the DPN's from angel yarns, I live in hope... But I did manage to knit it using me addi turbos, so I srtarted but then I pulled the yarn too tight and it snapped! Thankfully I have a lot left to be able to start again LOL
