and insists on every British citizen speaking English.

Soooo.... What about the Welsh.. They have their own language, and it's part of Britain, and Welsh is taught in Welsh schools.

I'm glad the thought of other people's suffering causes you such hilarity  Perhaps the BNP is the correct party for you....

Wealth we enjoy today? Where's that when it's at home? The superstructure of the country is on its last legs; the NHS is at crisis point yet again; the housing market is so distorted that people on above average wages cannot afford to buy their own home; many of the people who are lucky enough to be in a job that's not a McJob, are still only employed on 3 year contracts, or less; the level of credit card debt is too frightening for anyone to seriously think about; no-one realistically expects there will still be old-age pensions in a decade or two's time, etc.

Thatcher destroyed this country and left it a shadow of its former self. What was left has since been sold off to international capital.

You may find that hilarious; I find it tragic.

Keep repeating it but i've seen the health consquences of virtually every single miner in the locality.

I now see a Metropolitan Borough with huge substantial growth coming out it's ears. The people live longer. There's no way Thatcher destroyed anything... merely a ridiculous socialist dream that the people of England don't buy anymore and after the seventies and the nation collapsing around their ears in the grip of socialism who can blame them.

She did us the biggest favour, proven by experts which has led to the huge growth seen today - mostly squandered by New Labour.

Though ex-miners are still paying the penalty of their past occupation in health terms. All rewarded with generous redunancy packages at the time, of course. Plus the extra "compensation" payments for the injuries they received.

Why is welsh taught in Welsh schools? It is a dead language and has no written form. What is the point in such a useless exercise?

Because it is their language?

He's back. The prodigal son returns from (another) ban. Dont often agree with you but the forum is without doubt all the more entertaining when you are around.

Why thank you. My next ban will probably come next Wed or Thu - I'll be away with work for a while after that so will be happy to tell my favorite do-gooders what I really think of them at such a time. :hihi:

The Welsh cling onto their national heritage with almost obsessive fervour at times. I lived and worked in Wales for a couple of years and came to understand them.

There is a difference though between clinging on to a bit of the Principality’s history, and bowing down to every last minority group's whims and producing council and benefit literature in dozens of different languages - this flies totally against any hope of encouraging these people to integrate and learn English.

The Welsh all speak English though in some parts of North and West Wales it is a second language.

There are some Welsh, who totally refuse to use English.

Not all the time:).

Agreed, but what Bartfarst is saying (im sure he will correct me if I have misinterpreted his point) is that in England a fundamental grasp of English is neccessary to go about an unimpeded day. Yes the Welsh speak Welsh between themselves but I havent come across too many people who have live in Wales for many years and are unable to understand, on even a basic level the native tongue of the country they choose to inhabit.

Refusal to do something is different to having an inabillity. As English is taught in the National Curriculum they may chose not to use, (fair enough) but if needs be thay can use it.
