DaFoot
No such thing as learning the basics in a few hours, sorry.
Crayfish
Yeah, like saying you want to learn fluent danish in a day from scratch. Doesn't happen. Can recommend several places where years of hard training will make you a competent and confident fighter though.
acnotpc
Depends on what you are looking for. There are two main areas generally. Breakaway techniques and restraint techniques. These are what the police are supposed to be using when you see them on Bravo just diving all over some bugger lol If your interested (or anyone else for that matter) pm me and I can get hold of the details. Basically you are looking at four days, usually through the week or 2 weekends Hope this helps
Cyclone
I agree with the earlier posts. The only useful thing you can learn in a few days is that you should run the hell away and/or not put yourself in dangerous situations in the first place. LankyMan_BJJ
I wouldn't bother with a short term, 'quick fix' course. It would probably teach you bad habits/give you false confidence. If you don't want to/ are not able to train regularly, then the best advice I can give you is to run! Failing that, if you have no other option, and you are in really serious trouble (i.e. this is not appropriate for a mindless scrap in a bar) then go for the groin, eyes and throat as viciously as is humanly possible....... and then run/call the police! Hope that you never get in to serious trouble, and that this won't be necessary!

acnotpc
How serious are you in learning some self defence. The only reason I ask is because who I work for provide a course unit that specialises in mental health. Now if you know anything about mental health the attacks can be whenever, however, whoever so you always have to be on your guard. The compnay I work for does training courses and I could find out when the next one is. I know that once they had a guy from the job centre because he was fed up of being attacked by clients when he offered them a crappy job lol
