beckb
Today was my son's first day back at school and if this morning is repeated I may be on vallium by the end of the week. I have to drop him off at school in my car, so I do contribute to the school run traffic - I apologise - but I was appauled to see at least a dozen of my fellow school parents had blocked residents drives, parked on double yellow lines, across corners of junctions and half on the path. I could have maybe forgiven this had they dived into school, dropped offspring off and quickly returned to their cars but no - they were all littering the corridors of school, yakking away and one upping one another about their holidays. Why?????? Ecclesall Road, very close by has plenty of coffee shops to catch up on gossip. Drop the kids off, then go! PLEASE! Don't give us all a bad name by parking like inconsiderate prats. Not only is it very rude, its also dangerous. Cars were having to edge out further at junctions to see past cars parked on the kerb and on corners. I had to walk on the road with my son as I couldn't get past a Range Rover parked a jaunty angle on the path! I apologise for ranting! But I feel much better now! At least I will until 8.30 tomorrow! beckb
Bloody women, in their 4x4s! If you can't drive and park them, then don't buy them you imbeciles! (i'm with you beck ) I have to admit, even as a woman driver - although I don't have a 4x4, it is mostly the women at school who appear to think they have a god given right to park wherever they like. I can say hand on heart that I have only once ever parked where I shouldn't have and I got a ticket! Lesson learned! Perhaps I should call the traffic wardens in! Let them get trigger happy with the ticket books!

(i'm with you beck ) so what about the non 4x4 cars that didn't park correctly, are they ok? half the people on here wouldn't know a 4x4 if it ran them over. jena76
i think everyone knows what a 4x4 is! its one of them things women need to get the kids to school because a normal car just doesnt do the trick:rolleyes:
Betty1
Traffic wardens need only turn up outside any school at kicking out time and they would empty their ticket book in no time ! It beats me why many of these ( dare I say ) 'ample' ladies don't use their legs for what they were given to us for and WALK ! Many of the kids we see would benefit from the exercise too ! neeeeeeeeeek
Why not print out some A5 leaflets and attack one to each car window of the cars parked badly, but something like 'your selfish parking could kill a child' will probably just create litter but might make you feel better and the odd one might take it on board! (i'm with you beck ) Perhaps its me but I get the feeling that this is the moment some mothers have been waiting for all summer long for to get down to the school gates with 4/4s loaded up with kids to cause mayhem on the highway near schools to show off the latest 4/4 or whatever. But on a serious note the police should clamp down on all this inconsiderate parking outside schools as its downright dangerous and these folk should jolly well know better. I don't know whether Parking Services staff read the forum or not....but I do! Any resident affected by this inconsiderate parking by parents should contact their local councillor to call in Parking Services staff. If parents are parking illegally, or creating a hazard for children, they may first receive an advisory warning. Subsequent illegal parking may result in stronger measures.
