Plain Talker
i you could see the streets round where i live, where the pavements are blocked, alll week, across the full width, with bins and wheelie bins, you'd applaud this move!
Deepak_S7
im afraid I agree I too am sick of the pavements being used as a storage facility for bins Deepak
toptotty1117
im afraid I agree I too am sick of the pavements being used as a storage facility for bins Deepak So do I. Unfortunately though, the sort of people who may prop their cars up on brickks etc probably dont have £200 going spare so they'll end up paying hardly anything..... bluesandtwos
I dont think its unreasonable to get your bin off the street in 24hrs. fair enough, ppl may work, but fetch it in when you get home, its not difficult. causes problems for those with pushchairs and wheelchairs when there are bins everywhere. Maybe not all neighbourhoods are as charitable as ours, but we fetch the neighbours bins in too and vice-versa if we get to them first. sends out the signal that no-one is home if your bin is on its lonesome on the street, why give the lowlife out there any more encouragement to burgle your house? fuzzy
I agree with it, as long as they do it. I know how difficult it can be around here and i don't have a pushchair/wheelchair and am not blind. We do each others around here as well, and ask for it to be put out /+ brought back if we are away.
Gadgetgirl
only downside to this is when the bin-men don't come and collect it on the appointed day ; if its left as suggested by oynx for the next day, you'll be in breach of the rules and open to being fined. I can see it being yet another clever ploy to get some cash into the coffers by the local council
Ms Macbeth
Its not exactly difficult to take a bin off the street. Same as its easy to take litter home, dump rubbish at a council tip etc. It won't affect most of us as we do these things anyway. From the Star: Our experience shows there are three groups of people," said Mr Charlton. "The first are those who are salt of the earth and would do anything to help anybody. They are brilliant and work with us. "The second are those who don't realise they are causing a problem but with some education and persuasion will come in line. "But there's a third group who just don't want to know and spoil it for everybody else and they are the people this is targeted at."

beckb
I agree with it. I always bring my bin in as soon as i get home from work. Especially this time of year when the new students arrive and start wheelie bin racing down the street. Muppets.
