"Quick Read" Books from Penguin Readers

I came across a series of Penguin Readers "Quick Read" books in our local Library recently, and details may be of interest.

The paperback series is basically designed for school literature studies really, and are graded through 7 levels from easy start to advanced. The range includes contemporary, Classics and Original Works.

I have read three of them up to now.

The first was Oscar Wilde's "An Ideal Husband" (which is a stageplay really with a few stage directions thrown in).

The second was "Dangerous Game" by William Harris ( a spooky tale).

The third was "The Rainmaker" by John Grisham, similar in content to "The Street Lawyer" of which I read the full novel a month ago.

I found all of them ideal for short reading at bedtime. A couple of 20 minute spells and you have finished the excellent contents.

I realised that in spite of Oscar Wilde's fame, and a couple of TV plays produced in the 50's or 60's, I had never been interested enough to watch them. The book spurred me to use Google and it came up with this comprehensive site where his works are free to read and apparently "downloadable".

If you can find these "Quick Read" books from Penquin Readers in your local library take a look and see what you make of them.
