Home security Alarm Recomendations Please

I always wonder if there's any use in the house alarm.

There are several people on our road with them and they get set off on a regular basis, often for up to an hour during the night, so many people tend to ignore them now.

I would probably look to spend the money on CCTV (we have this) which at least captures evidence or one of those systems that links to a control room in the event of a break in.

the only house alarm i can recomend is a nice little rottie does the trick but does cost a fair bit to maintain. but on a serious note smart alarms at hillsborough on middlewood road are supposed to be good someone i know who worked for south yorkshire police on the crime prevention told me that they are reliable and trust worthy. dont know if anyone on the forum will be able to give you any more input, but i havent had personal experience with them so take it as you want.

i would recommend an adt monitored alarm system. My dad has one, and if the alarm goes off they monitor to see if there is movement and if there is they will contact the police and homeowner. Very well worth the money.

I have the same & would definitely recommend a monitored alarm, even though I'm still nervous it's the only way I will leave my house.

Have a think about what you would like the alarm to do, you could consider door contacts, panic buttons dotted around the house. When having the alarm fitted, each of these might add £10-15 for each, but when you want them adding after the fitting, can be expensive. We used C&H Alarms, not had any problems with the alarm in 8yrs.
