DaBouncer
OK I have an email extractor to quickly locate my customer base emails from my Microsoft Outlook programme. What I need though is a programme that will extract certain information from emails received (such as contact numbers etc). Does anyone know of software that will do this? Freeware/Shareware or purchase I don't mind. Just saves me trawling through a couple of thousand emails to manually take down this info myself. Ta muchly. richard
I could write something if you like? A bit of PHP would extract stuff like this so long as there is an easy way for me to access the emails. To do that I could set up a temporary IMAP account for you to copy the emails to and then get the emails in a format that suits me, from that account. Unless you have some PHP knowledge I don't know a way which wouldn't involving me having access to the emails though. PM me if your interested. DaBouncer
It's quite sensitive information to be honest and unless I'm willing the breach data protection (which I'm not) it wouldn't be feasible. Not that i don't trust you, it's just I obviously have privacy issued for mu customers to take into account. Also my PHP knowledge is zero in all fairness. I appreciate the offer though. richard
You can allow outside companies to see confidential data under the terms of the Data prodection act, so long as there is good reason. That being distinct to giving them the data to use. As I am self-employed and registered business then you wouldn't be breaking the Act because you have a legitimate reason. Seriously my industry would not work if this was not the case. The emails you received were viewable by the staff who run the server your mail is stored on before you download it, it is no different. I've had access probably hundreds of thousands of items of personal data all covered by the Act.
dosxuk
If you're really worried about sensitivity of the data, you can always modify a couple of pieces to remove any personal details in order to let people see the format of the data you need parsing.
