Camrat78
Can anyone tell me if the police are allowed to speed whilst ot showing any blue lights? Its just that on a number of occasions a police car has come behind me. Naturally, I make sure I'm obeying the limit, but either they get up my a@@e on a single lane road looking to overtake, or on a duel carrageway, they come speeding past. I'm not one who normally knocks the police, but it is double standards, if I did what they did I would have lost my licence by now. I have thought about reporting them when it next occurs, but then I can imagine myself getting stopped a hell of a lot if I did that.
HotPhil
My understanding was that they weren't supposed to. If it bugs you, take a note of the car number and let the Police station know.
kittenta
I saw one today parked on middlewood road blocking the left hand lane being half in the lane and half in an empty bus stop?? He was sat writing something, surely he could have used the bus stop instead of causing traffic problems, bet if I parked like that they'd have summat to say! Too many police these days think they above the law and that the law doesn't apply to them. (apologise to the, probably rare, few police who still obey the law). elenac
Its not always the case that they are attending a 'blue light' type incident but for instance trying to catch up with someone without them knowing they are coming. However speeding just because they think they can is a different matter.

As soon as you are over the 10% they will have you like a shot. If you slow down to let them past they will have you for driving hesitantly. You cannot win. I like to purposly stick to the exact speed limit and keep to the right hand side of my lane making it difficult for them to over take me But then I also do that to non police idiots who like to get to close to my car! I am seriously thinking about complaining, but I'm just worried what (if any) repercussions it may have?

I have known people wh o have bought cars and kept getting pulled for no reason. The car had obviously belong previously to someone who had upset the bobbies. Dont forget they have quota to fill, they will be out looking at prime times to get the fastest share.
Camrat78
Very cynical, but also very true. I went out for breakfast at a popular take away resturant yesterday moring, and in the car park was a young copper, fast asleep in his panda car. Makes me feel a whole lot safer knowing he's there to protect me!!
artisan
It is very rare I have any bother with the coppers when driving, but I was once followed for over 25 miles, from Skipton to Ingleton, I kept to 55/60 all the way along, with them about 20 feet off my bumper. When I turned off into the car park they followed me and parked opposite. I was going to go and ask them what the problem was, but my wife and children stopped me. Probably for the best, after clocking my face, they drove off and I didnt see them again. I was driving a new high performance car, and think they were trying to test my patience so they could get a name in the book.
