Guest Mod_Man
Its a form of music that is created entirely on computer " now P.C. only" that i got into in my Amiga days. It's something i am still into and i was wondering if any Forummers are into Mods or Tracking? (Tracking is the creation of Mods.) If you are into or would like to listen to any, then P.M. me and ill be only too pleased to send you some of my collection. It's all in the Public Domain so no worry about Copyright infringment. defstef
There are still a handful of trackers available for both Windows and Mac. In fact, there's actually a forummer who runs a Sheffield-based hip-hop label that has put out some Protracker-penned dittys on 7". I used to like Octamed - good MIDI options for a tracker. Ghozer
I had hundreds of thousands of MOD(ules) on the Amiga, they werent made entirely on computer, originally, they were samples of instruments / sounds (usually in the key of middle C) and placed in the correct order in 'blocks' each 'block' could be configured for 16/32/64/128 'beats' or bars etc.. once you had made a block, you could re-call it at any time in your module to complete the track.. people made 10 minute long modules, of only 5 blocks or less, just alternated the order of the blocks.. There are many trackers available for playing/editing/creating modules.. even winamp will play them
cube
I used to spend hours on OctaMED on the Amiga. I prefer listening to the older SID chip music from the Commodore 64 though.

Guest
I shall check out the site. I always found it amazing what they could do with only 4 channels, it was often far better than the crappy dance music in the charts at the time.

I now use Modplug tracker. Am giving Buzz a go, it seems more commercially orientated. "Not that that is a bad thing."
fnkysknky
I remember using trackers on the Amiga and then a few years ago a housemate who was at uni up here was really into Fasttracker 2. Wrote some good stuff.
